I love the concept behind this poem. Thank you for the intro. I felt like I was at a coffee house at a poetry reading. The deliberate obscuring of facts was frustrating as a reader but I suspect it was intentional. I love the line "the great love of my youth a fiction," It has so many possible meanings and the link back to literature pleases me. I'm guessing this line serves as a volta, but I'm not convinced that it signals a real change before and after it. Anyway, it is an interesting idea and puzzle.
Wow, I really love this. Opening line for me:
'It was the whispers of my youth'.
Thanks, Michael!
Aww to how I think I understand your message 💜 Thank you for sharing
The pilgrim line for obvious reasons!
Fun fact: an old blog I used to write was called Pilgrimage of the Soul.
Oh wow! And what happened to the old blog?
Deleted it. :)
Oh no! Or yes?
